Carrot expands fertility care with Oura and Dexcom wearable data

Carrot’s Sprints members will have access to sleep, stress, activity and glucose data from Oura and Dexcom, along with clinical guidance to support metabolic fertility care.

Employer-focused global fertility company Carrot announced a partnership with health-tracking ring maker Oura and continuous glucose monitoring company Dexcom to combine fertility and family-building insights from its Sprints platform with data from Oura and Dexcom wearables.

Carrot offers a fertility and family-building platform for employers to provide extended access to care from pre-pregnancy through menopause and parenting.

Sprints is Carrot's metabolic fertility program that aims to address the link between infertility and obesity and poor metabolic health. 

The company says Sprints provides members with personalized prompts that analyze sleep, nutrition, stress management and movement in order to help them overcome fertility obstacles linked to blood sugar dysregulation, sperm damage, obesity and other metabolic disorders. 

Through the partnership, Carrot members enrolled in Sprints who also use Dexcom's FDA-cleared continuous glucose monitor, Stelo, and the Oura Ring will be able to access insights on sleep, stress, cardiovascular and women's health biometrics, and activity and glucose data from Stelo. 

Members can then connect with Carrot's clinical support team, which the company says is trained in interpreting Oura and Stelo data.

Carrot members will receive generated reports that include analyses of glucose level trends, menstrual cycle patterns, sleep quality, activity, and stress management, to give the clinical team a picture of one's metabolic fertility health. 

The fertility company's members will also be able to obtain data from the Oura Ring to help pinpoint their fertility windows and access Oura Meals, a feature that allows members to track the timing of their meals to understand how their stress, sleep and recovery are impacted by when they eat. 

"A new wave of consumer health innovation is shining a spotlight on women's health and hormonal health. Putting data in the hands of our members is an important first step, but it needs to be paired with actionable support from experts to improve health outcomes," Hilary Bartlett, chief product officer of Carrot, said in a statement.

"This partnership builds on our pioneering work in metabolic-fertility health and further supports our commitment to delivering results for employers and health plans."

THE LARGER TREND

Oura made headlines last month for securing more than $900 million in funding, bumping its valuation to approximately $11 billion.

In December 2024, Oura closed a $200 million Series D funding round, bringing its valuation to $5.2 billion.

One month before, Dexcom and Oura announced a strategic partnership after the continuous glucose monitoring company made a $75 million strategic investment in the ring maker, raising its valuation to $5 billion.

Earlier this year, Dexcom and Oura announced an expanded partnership to provide Stelo users and ring wearers with metabolic health features, including meal insights and glucose data. 

In 2022, Oura announced it reached a valuation of $2.55 billion, one year after securing $100 million in Series C funding. Oura garnered $28 million in Series B funding in 2020.

In August, Carrot announced exclusively through MobiHealthNews that it was adding 4,200 clinics to its provider network and enabling cost-sharing as well as direct claims payment to providers and clinicians.

The new contracts included clinics and providers across all 50 U.S. states, joining the company's network of more than 17,000 providers nationwide.

In June, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America announced a partnership with Carrot to provide Guardian members with access to Carrot's offerings through its hospital indemnity insurance policy.

In March, Teladoc Health announced it had formed a technology partnership with Carrot to allow Teladoc Health's care providers and coaches to view members' eligibility for the fertility and family-building service. The partnership allows Teladoc clinicians to refer patients to Carrot at the point of care.

In 2021, Carrot raised $75 million in Series C funding, with Tiger Global Management leading the round.

A year before, the fertility company closed $24 million in Series B funding, bringing its total raise to more than $40 million.
